Afghanistan: Traitor wounds Australian, NZ soldiers

October 27, 2013

An Australian and a New Zealand soldier have been injured after an Afghan soldier opened fire on coalition soldiers during a meeting in northern Afghanistan.

The Defence Force says the quick thinking of Australian soldiers helped save others from being wounded in the insider attack, which occurred slightly after 9am local time in the Qargha region just outside Kabul.

They shot the Afghan National Security Force member, and it is not yet known if he survived the attack, defence said in a statement.
