Australia: Your taxes at work…
Paying through the nose for Tim Flannery‘s hysteria.
Sydney’s privatised desalination plant, which is costing residents more than $500,000 a day to keep on standby, will not be needed for at least another four or five years.
The sale of the plant last year to a private company for $2.3 billion means residents are locked into paying about $10 billion in fees for the next 50 years, whether the plant is operating or not….
When the plant was switched off in July last year, the owners were paid a shutdown fee of $1.5 million.
When it comes time to switch it on again, they will be paid a restart fee of $5.5 million.
Only scare people enough, and you and your cronies can rip them off seven ways to next Sunday.
My suggestion: use the plant for bombing practice. Then demand the proprietors open it, and sack them when they can’t.
