US: Irony alert: when a young woman warns her church that it’s driving young people away…
…the church drives her away.
After last week, Dannika Nash knows first-hand the impact words can have.
A blog post she wrote in the aftermath of the April 5th Macklemore concert has drawn national praise and condemnation with more than 2,250 comments posted. Titled “An Open Letter to the Church from My Generation,” Nash told “the Church” her generation “will not stick around to see the church fight gay marriage against our better judgment.”
That stance also cost Nash her summer job as a counselor at a church camp.
She was sitting in a coffee shop with her boyfriend when the camp director called to politely, regretfully dismiss her.
Here’s a tip: if you have to do something ‘regretfully’, then maybe you should have some reasons or something that you can defend, not just fairy stories. Just sayin’.
