UAE: 14-y-o girl charged with adultery and jailed for two weeks
SMH.
A 14-year-old Arab schoolgirl has been detained for two weeks on an adultery charge and forced to undergo a virginity test in the United Arab Emirates, a newspaper reports.
Gulf News reported police in the conservative emirate of Ajman had arrested the teenager after she met up with her boyfriend on the roof of her family home.
She had since been forced to undergo a gynaecological examination which “confirmed she was still a virgin”, the unnamed girl’s father was quoted as saying by the English-language daily.
As if it was any of their business…

UAE: Woman jailed for ‘adultery’ after being raped

A Brisbane woman is suing a luxury United Arab Emirates resort after she was jailed for adultery when she complained of being drugged and raped by three men.
Alicia Gali was sentenced to 12 months in prison after an assault by three co-workers while drinking at the Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort staff bar in Fujairah, UAE in June 2008.
After reporting the incident to police, Ms Gali was jailed for adultery and served eight months before being pardoned in March 2009 and returning to Australia.
It’s a good thing they didn’t rob her as well, or she might have served extra time for vagrancy.

UAE: Couple jailed for consensual sex

A 14-year-old Brazilian girl was sentenced to jail in Abu Dhabi then deportation for having had “consensual sex” with a Pakistani school bus driver, local newspapers said.
The girl was sentenced to six months after prosecutors charged that she had “consensual sex” and had arranged the meeting with the Pakistani man, citing what they described as “erotic” text messages, the reports said.
And the man was jailed for one year. Eighteen months in prison and two ruined lives for doing something that harmed nobody. God can be a real dick sometimes!
UAE: Bikini-clad holidayer detained by police

A British woman stripped down to her bikini..[in a]…Dubai mall after an Emirati woman… confronted her for wearing a low-cut shirt, police said on Thursday.
Mall security detained both women and took them to a police station for questioning on Wednesday. They were released later in the day after the Emirati woman lodged a complaint for public indecency against the Briton, said a police official..
Complaint? I nominate her for a Dawkins Award!
UAE: Two Britons sentenced to imprisonment for kissing in public
Don’t waste your sympathy on the Brits: just visualise to yourself, for a moment, the kind of warped and twisted mind which is afraid of allowing people to kiss in public, and imagine all the confusion, grief and despair which that pathetic injured excuse for a human personality must go through in just a single day. This is paranoia, institutional paranoia. Theocracy produces not merely rogue governments, but psychotic ones.
