…because mean-spirited bigots like Peter Mullen will pray for them.
The radical innovators, illiberal “liberals,” non-believing secularists and intolerant feminists who together govern the church are determined not to make the same mistake again. They are saying to the opponents of women bishops, “Well, get out then!” – except this injunction is not generally put even as politely as that.
The integrity that opposes the ordination of women is no misogynist whim. It is a theological integrity outlined as long ago as the 1940s by the great Christian apologist C S Lewis. He said: “Suppose the reformer begins to say that God is like a good woman. Suppose she says that we might just as well pray to Our Mother which art in heaven as to Our Father. Suppose that the Incarnation might just as well have taken a female form. Suppose the Second Person of the Trinity be as well called Daughter of God as Son of God. Suppose finally that the mystical marriage betwixt ‘Christ and his Church’ were reversed, that the Church became the Bridegroom and Christ the Bride. All this is involved in the claim that a woman can represent God as priest.”
I propose a new version of Godwin’s Law: anybody who puts CS Lewis forward as a reliable or persuasive authority on anything automatically forfeits the right to be taken seriously.

Guess we can add Santorum to the list of misogynists. And he could be the next leader of the *groan* U.S.A.
