US: Another Catholic priest resigns after sex abuse allegations

CANAL FULTON, Ohio – A Roman Catholic priest accused of sexual misconduct with a minor has resigned as a parish pastor and was put on administrative leave in northeast Ohio.

The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown says the Rev. John Warner denied the allegation involving a minor more than 30 years ago at Youngstown’s St. Edward parish.

Bishop George Murry says in a statement released Sunday that Warner resigned as pastor of Sts. Philip and James Parish in Canal Fulton and was placed on leave after a lay board’s investigation concluded the allegation was credible.

Warner may not publicly celebrate sacraments, wear clerical clothing or present himself as a priest in good standing.

Or else… what? God will smite him?

A former Presbyterian minister is suing the wife of the director of the church’s missionary wing for defamation, claiming she wrote a letter that accused him of indecently assaulting her.

Fayek Iskander says his reputation was ruined when Jennifer Lutton told a senior member of the church that in September 2009, he came to her house, grabbed her and kissed so hard that her teeth hurt. He then allegedly threatened her if she told anyone what happened…

Mr Evatt said … “Mrs Lutton is religious, Mr Iskander is religious, everybody else in this case is religious, yet somebody is lying or not telling the truth.”

The Duchess of Kent has withdrawn from public life to such an extent that she is often described as a recluse, but her son Lord Nicholas Windsor is determined to speak out over causes that he believes in.

Lord Nicholas, 40, who lost his place in the line of succession when he became a Roman Catholic, has written a controversial article in which he claims that abortion is a bigger threat to Europe than al-Qaeda and Islamic terrorism.

He describes abortion as “the single most grievous moral deficit in contemporary life” and calls for a “new abolitionism for Europe” in which abortion, like the slave trade, can be abolished.

Spread some of that Royal wealth around, and quite a lot of women could afford to have children that they can’t afford now.

Hundreds of ultra-Orthodox residents of Beit Shemesh staged a demonstration Tuesday evening outside a religious girls’ school in the city, in protest of the Education Ministry’s decision to open the school near haredi neighborhoods.

Senior Beit Shemesh rabbis took part in the rally, in which participants called for “maintaining the purity of the haredi neighborhoods against strangers plotting to desecrate them, backed by the evil regime.”…

A female journalist was assaulted by a small group of young protestors, who cursed and spat at her as well.

Ignorance is not a crime. Wilful ignorance is.

Iran: Actress sentenced to jail and flogging

Iranian actress Marzieh Vafamehr has been sentenced to a year in jail and 90 lashes for her role in an Australian-produced film about the limits imposed on artists in Iran.

A spokesperson said: “Iran is a wonderful place, and anyone who claims it is a savage, barbaric hellhole run by sadistic lunatics deserves to be whipped, and jailed, and have their fingernails pulled out, and their genitals…”

Another spokesperson said: “Please come back later. The Minister is having one of his turns.”
